SOME OTHER STORIES...
Recalling kindergarten over high tea
was a special treat for some of the people who had played an important role in our past...
It was a celebration of the occasion, a chance to reflect, and an opportunity to talk about how exciting the future is for Kidsfirst Kindergartens.
Chief Executive Sherryll Wilson said it was a shame that some of the more elderly Life Members were absent for various reasons but that it was a great catchup for those who could make it.
The high tea was an authentic treat, held at Sweethearts' beautiful garden setting on the outskirts of Christchurch.
Former President of the CWFKA, Sandy Bain, says she "enjoyed being able to 'talk about kindergarten' with interesting people and to get up to date with current news".
Chair of the Kidsfirst Board, Jan Forsyth, welcomed the guests and presented those present with their own commemorative copy of the Kidsfirst, 100 Years Young book.
"I also appreciate the wonderful book that has been produced: informative, very accessible, and an important colourful and interesting record of those involved over that 100 years and their achievements. From concept to professional production, the book does the Association and the Kindergarten Movement proud. Thank you for the copy which I have now read and reread with such pleasure and pride. It is an excellent book," commented Sandy.
Jan Forsyth declared the event a great success and a really appropriate celebration for 100 years of the Canterbury Westland Free Kindergarten Association.
CEO Sherryll Wilson says those present had such a good time the Life Members asked whether it was possible to make it an annual event.
