2 years to school age

You'll find our kindergarten in a quiet cul-de-sac right next door to Parkview Primary School. Ngā kaiako (teachers) at Kidsfirst Kindergartens Parklands are responsive to the interests, strengths and capabilities of all children aged 2 – school age. Children are seen as being confident, capable and able to contribute to the programme which is underpinned by tikanga principles of: Manaakitanga (caring and respect for others), Whanaungatanga (family, relationships, history, traditions) and Kaitiakitanga (looking after the world around you, including ideas about sustainability).

Kidsfirst Kindergartens Parklands has a homelike feel where children can access a range of resources that are carefully and intentionally provided to provoke thinking and exploration.   This is an environment supportive of the mana, wairua and mauri that tamariki and their whānau bring to us. Tamariki are encouraged to be curious about the world around them, and respectful of the environment as they play and learn.

Our beautiful, big backyard is a natural space that provides lots of opportunities to try new things and  inspires curiosity and  creativity through having places to run, to explore, and to use real tools. There are opportunities to grow muscles and build skills, as children swing, climb, dig, and challenge themselves as they play.

Tamariki at our kindergarten learn in an environment where we value play as a means of learning. Teachers use rich language to provoke and inspire children, to support them to develop problem solving skills, engage with learning experiences within the environment, and build relationships.  Children have the opportunity to learn about, and care, for the natural environment and the world around them through hand-on experiences within the kindergarten, as well as excursions into the local community, when we venture out the gate to visit the library, parks, forest, supermarket and school. We’d love for you to join us sometime.

We have a close partnership with Parkview School with regular visits both to the school and from new entrant teachers to the kindergarten, supporting the transition to school for you and your child.

You're always welcome here - community and connectedness are at the heart of what we do. We love it when parents and whānau join in with us, contributing their knowledge and strengths with kaiako/teachers and children and enriching our programme. This maybe attending a social event, calling in at lunchtime to have kai with your child, helping out by doing small jobs around the place or giving your time so we can go for a walk. You can be involved whenever it suits you, and it’s a great way to get to know people in this community.

We would recommend that you enrol initially  for at least two full days –building up to five days at your child's pace. This gives us all time to get to know each other and provides consistency around supporting learning and the building of relationships.

Ko te ahurei o te tamaiti arahia ō tātou mahi.

Let the uniqueness of the child guide our work.

Nau mai, tauti mai - come in any time, we are very proud of our unique learning environment and would love to show you around.  Kidsfirst Kindergartens Parklands is a wonderful place to learn!

From time to time we have special offers, to enable more children to come to our not-for-profit, community kindergarten. But hurry, spaces are limited and these offers only apply for a limited time. Conditions apply.
