Kidsfirst Kindergartens Woolley St is peacefully nestled away from the hustle and bustle of the city in the heart of Avondale, surrounded by wide open natural spaces for tamariki to play and explore. We have a strong sense of community here, and a beautiful setting for children aged from 2- 5 years to learn and grow from.

Our beautiful outdoor space is what really sets us apart from the others. A huge sandpit provides opportunities for exploration, and creativity, such as archaeological digs for dinosaur bones, and every day  water play allows for sensory exploration and scientific learning as well as the all important fun! Tamariki showcase their biking skills on our large cycle track surrounding the lawn, and the climbing frame and swings provide both physical challenges and relaxation for tamariki.

The outdoor environment provides an abundance of sensory stimulation with birds to hear, plants and insects to see, flowers to smell, and many textures to feel. Bug hunting is a very popular activity and provides many rich learning opportunities for the tamariki; life cycles, the natural world, empathy and caring for animals are all encouraged.

The fourth (unofficial) member of our teaching team is Roger the Kindergarten rabbit! Tamariki learn so much by caring for him, and observing him as he explores the environment alongside them every day.

Our programme caters for all children’s interests, supporting children to become competent, confident learners, healthy in mind, body and spirit. We have a strong bi-cultural focus and encourage our tamariki to engage in, and learn from, the environment. Every day we foster your child’s curiosity, imagination and development of knowledge through play, creativity and exploration.

We love hearing our whānau stories, some have fond memories of coming here as children and want their children to have the same wonderful enriching experiences enjoyed by so many kiwi families. Whether you have a family connection or not, come and meet us, we make everyone welcome and love making new connections in the community.

You're always welcome here, and whānau often stay to be involved in session, supporting the kindergarten and contributing by bringing in kai for morning tea, helping out by fixing equipment, sharing their skills, language and culture with us - all enriching our programme.

We regularly take our tamariki on walks into the community to visit the local playground, explore the red zone and to have picnics in the park – you’ll see us out and about with our hi-vis vests on!

We would recommend that you enroll initially for at least two full days – building up to five days at your child's pace. This gives our teachers time to get to know your child and gives some consistency around supporting their learning.

Nau mai, tauti mai -come in any time – we’ll show you around and make you welcome!

Looking forward to seeing you here.

From time to time we have special offers, to enable more children to come to our not-for-profit, community kindergarten. But hurry, spaces are limited and these offers only apply for a limited time. Conditions apply.
