You’ll find Kidsfirst Kindergartens Papanui right in the heart of our busy neighbourhood. When you come in to our kindergarten you will feel Manaakitanga, the warmth and welcome of our learning community, and be amazed by the big, bright, child-friendly space with lots of different learning areas that foster opportunities for children to learn both individually and in groups.   The programme we have developed for children aged 2 – 5 years is fun, exciting and challenging with an inquiry learning focus, where your child’s individual needs and interests are built on.

We treasure our kindergarten environment. We present it with care and respect for Papatuānūku (Mother Earth) for this tells tamariki that this kindergarten is valued, that their work is valued, and that their community sees this is as a very special place.  Our kindergarten is open, warm and light-filled with spaces for quiet, creative and imaginative play.  Outside, our big backyard is filled with established trees and gardens, a mud kitchen, sandpit, and equipment specially designed to support children’s exploration, physical growth and development.

At Kidsfirst Papanui, our core curriculum values are whanaungatanga (relationships), social competency, creativity, curiosity, risk-taking, rangatiratanga (leadership), ako (learning and teaching), and kindness.  Our teaching team is experienced and motivated, our focus and commitment is for each child to love learning and reach their personal best.

You're always welcome here! We support and encourage whānau involvement as much as each individual family is able to give, and we love it when whānau come in to share their skills, interests, languages and cultures - enriching our programme.

You’ll often see us out about in our environment in our ‘high vis vests’, exploring our community and visiting our local park to see the changing seasons. We also have strong relationships with the local schools, helping you and your child when the time comes to make the transition to school.

We would recommend that you enrol initially  for at least two full days – building up to five days at your child's pace.  This gives our teachers time to get to know your child and gives some consistency around supporting their learning.

Nau mai, tauti mai - come in any time – we’ll show you around and make you welcome!

From time to time we have special offers, to enable more children to come to our not-for-profit, community kindergarten. But hurry, spaces are limited and these offers only apply for a limited time. Conditions apply.
