SOME OTHER STORIES...
Vintage Car Day, November 2013
at Kidsfirst Portsmouth Street
The 20th of November, 2013 saw a fleet of vintage cars traverse Christchurch and make their way to every Kidsfirst kindy in the Canterbury region.
The occasion was to acknowledge and celebrate 100 Years of Kidsfirst, and proved to be a huge success. Each car was driven by a passionate Vintage Car Club car owner who volunteered their time and vehicle to help Kidsfirst celebrate the centenary ... and each car carried a “special guest” to the kindy, someone who the kindy wanted to honour and thank.
As a way to help children see what life was like in the 'olden days', the cars came to the kindys. In amongst the excitement of the teachers, the children and their guests, photos were taken, seats were climbed, and, as always, horns were tooted!
It was a great way to remember how far Kidsfirst has come, and to look towards a bright and exciting future together.
Kidsfirst Portsmouth received a very special visit from the community Nurse, Jenny, on Vintage Car Day (Jenny also works with parents, staff and children at Kidsfirst Ngaire Larcombe). Here Jenny meets and greets the children at Kidsfirst Portsmouth before they hand her the time capsule that they all put together to commemorate the centenary.
