Hawea hosts a Pink Ribbon Breakfast
With one of their families undergoing treatment for Breast Cancer, Kidsfirst Hawea hosted their very own Pink Ribbon Breakfast at kindergarten.
Pink Ribbon Breakfasts, held in May of each year, are Breast Cancer Foundation NZ’s biggest fundraising campaign, with money raised helping to fund innovative research and support patients and their families through this challenging journey.
"We wanted to be able to show our support and raise some important funds in a fun way," says head teacher, Kylie Arnesen.
Getting together with whānau, dressing-up and sharing kai to get behind a good cause is what it’s all about at kindergarten.
“The tamariki worked hard to create some delicious pink marshmallow slice to share and we talked about what other food we may see."
"Watermelon, strawberries and milkshakes, were some of the ideas we came up with.”
Two Kidsfirst Hawea families generously supplied a gorgeous array of pink cupcakes that could be purchased for a donation, with all funds received on the day going directly to the Breast Cancer Foundation.
“We were absolutely blown away with over $450 donated and the support from all our families, making the day a resounding success!”
We're so proud that our kindergartens are such caring places to be. Places where tamariki, teachers, community, parents and caregivers not only learn and grow together but are there to support each other when the going gets tough.
