Nuturing seedlings at Kidsfirst Phillipstown
When our 100 Days of Kidsfirst Kindergartens (to celebrate our centenary) began, Kidsfirst Phillipstown was busy planting out the kindergarten gardens.
The children helped to count out 100 seedlings. The idea was that this was a time to remember the past and to grow for the future.
You could even say that the seedlings were a great metaphor for the young minds that come to kindy!
One child highlighted the idea perfectly when she brought in beans grown at their home last year as a starter for the kindergarten's own crop of beans.
What a great example of the natural world in action.
Seedlings help provide a great opportunity to promote a real care for our environment to to encourage everybody to share responsibility for its well being.
The images below show the seeds being brought in and watered once they were planted out.
