SOME OTHER STORIES...
Vintage Car Day, November 2013
at Kidsfirst Lady May
The 13th of November, 2013 saw a fleet of vintage cars traverse Christchurch and make their way to every Kidsfirst kindy in the Canterbury region.
The occasion was to acknowledge and celebrate 100 Years of Kidsfirst, and proved to be a huge success. Each car was driven by a passionate Vintage Car Club car owner who volunteered their time and vehicle to help Kidsfirst celebrate the centenary... and each car carried a “special guest” to their destination, someone who the kindy wanted to honour and thank.
The cars really helped children to see what life was like in the 'olden days'. In amongst the excitement of the teachers, the children and their guests, photos were taken, seats were climbed, and, as always, horns were tooted!
It was a great way to remember how far Kidsfirst has come, and to look towards a bright and exciting future together.
Kidsfirst Lady May’s special Vintage Car Day visitor was their teacher aide, Denise.
Denise goes "above and beyond" for the kindergarten, and the kindergarten teachers thought that it was really important for the children to be able to participate in thanking her.
Children presented Denise with a bunch of flowers when she arrived at the kindergarten, and together they enjoyed a lovely banana cake. They were allowed to jump in and play on the seats of the cars and have a good look inside, but they were also fascinated by the outside of the cars, and how shiny they were.
The Lady May teachers said how fantastic it was that the children could say thank you, in their own way, to Denise for all of her hard work, love and care.
