|The spirit of ako abounds at kindergarten where children are not just learning from the teachers, but teachers are also constantly inspired by tamariki...|
SOME OF OUR TOP STORIES
Our Kidsfirst teachers have a really special bond with tamariki. Every day we’re amazed by how much our teachers share wonderful things with our children...
It may be teaching them how to tie their shoelaces, tend to a garden or whip up a batch of delicious muffins. It could be bringing a favourite book to read at kindergarten, photographs to show….or an entire wedding day!
Overjoyed to share in the fun of their teacher tying the knot were tamariki at Kidsfirst Cashmere. Teacher, Hannah Lawrence’s recent wedding had children excited and intrigued, so it was decided to have a day of celebration at kindy too.
Hannah brought all of the beautiful decorations from her special day and set up a ‘boutique’, where children could try on veils or rings and hold the gorgeous floral bouquets.
“We had a day filled with all the wonderful things that weddings bring,” says Hannah. “Beautiful dresses, high heels, suits and ties, and of course delicious food as a special treat.”
A kindy mum played head caterer for the day. Everyone enjoyed canapes of heart shaped ham sandwiches, followed by a mini carrot cake with cream cheese icing.
Kindy-made berry and chocolate ice cream was served as an afternoon tea dessert option and was the 'icing on the cake' for a fantastic day!
There was even an ‘official’ photographer to capture the magical moments.
“For those who didn't want the celebrations to end we watched the Royal Wedding on our big screen, and re-lived our precious memories with a slide show,” adds Hannah.
Everyone loves a wedding. What a top way to spend a day at kindy!
Thank you Hannah for sharing the love at kindergarten and taking the time to make it such a special day for tamariki too!
