Grandparents share special day
Tamariki at Kidsfirst Shirley couldn’t wait to welcome their grandparents/tīpuna and special/mauri people to a wonderful day at kindy to show them around, play together and share a morning tea.
Children often have a very special relationship with their grandparents and so it’s nice when there’s an opportunity to share some time together at kindergarten too.
“A big thank you to those who came to Kidsfirst Shirley to see their grandchildren (mokopuna) and special small people,” says teacher, Anita Stowell.
The children felt very proud to involve them in their play and learning experiences and to share their awesome profile books, highlighting children’s learning journey’s and other magic moments.Tamariki had also made chocolate chip shortbread to enjoy with a cuppa. What a valuable way to make connections and celebrate our whānau/families.“We had such a great day and so enjoyed having grandparents and extended whānau along to spend some quality time at kindergarten.”
“We believe that this is a valuable way for us to make connections and celebrate our whānau/families at Kidsfirst Shirley,” says Anita. Looks like lovely times shared by all.
