Enviroschool Kidsfirst Lincoln was awarded a 'Beyond Green/Gold' status certification for again achieving all of their goals towards environmental sustainability within the kindergarten, local community and beyond.

They celebrated with a shared morning tea - green and gold cake, the same coloured muffins (made with silverbeet from the Kidsfirst Lincoln plot at the local Community Gardens), and coleslaw cups.

Special guests included Enviroschools Facilitator, Matt Stanford and Selwyn District Council representatives Andrew Boyd and Jesse Burgess, to present the award. Tamariki had a great time playing host, confidently and proudly showing their visitors around the kindergarten’s turangawaewae garden, the worm farm, vegetable garden and Mud Café.

“The Enviroschools programme is an integral and important part of the curriculum here at Kidsfirst Kindergartens Lincoln,” says Relieving Head Teacher, Joyce McHerron. “At our recent community meeting we re-reflected (the previous reflection for Green/Gold status occurred in 2012) on what we are doing well, what we can improve on and what we can incorporate moving forward, to continue our Enviroschools journey.”
