SOME OTHER STORIES...
Vintage Car Day, November 2013
at Kidsfirst Bush Street
The 13th of November, 2013 saw a fleet of vintage cars traverse Christchurch and make their way to every Kidsfirst kindy in the Canterbury region.
The occasion was to acknowledge and celebrate 100 Years of Kidsfirst, and proved to be a huge success. Each car was driven by a passionate Vintage Car Club car owner who volunteered their time and vehicle to help Kidsfirst celebrate the centenary...and each car carried a “special guest” to their destination, someone who the kindy wanted to honour and thank.
The cars really helped children to see what life was like in the 'olden days'. In amongst the excitement of the teachers, the children and their guests, photos were taken, seats were climbed and, as always, horns were tooted!
It was a great way to remember how far Kidsfirst has come, and to look towards a bright and exciting future together.
Kidsfirst Bush Street invited local MP Clayton Cosgrove to come along to kindy for a ride, however he was double-booked. Fortunately one of their lovely parents Carla jumped in to save the day. She enjoyed looking through the kindergarten's Time Capsule, and all the treasures they had collected to be uncovered in 100 years time.
If you look carefully in this photo, you can see also see Pumpkin, the Bush Street horse, who came outside to watch the arrival of the car, along with several parents who stayed on for a shared morning tea with the cake the children had baked.
Here are some photos from that special day.
