SOME OTHER STORIES...
Spring may be the season that we love the most of all ...
From one side of Christchurch to the other, from one coast to the other, we can be really proud of our environments and there's no better time to appreciate that than in spring.
When the change of season rolls around, our environments change as well. This gives our teaching team a wonderful opportunity to talk about nature, time and change.
Since the very beginnings of our Association, our gardens and play areas have been a big part of the kindergarten experience.
It was decreed that...
"there should be light, airy buidlings with pretty gardens and teachers trained in the latest methods of early childhood education."
The Phillipstown report from 1920-1921 proudly stated that...
"The grounds are now in order, border gay with flowers, lawn neat and trim."
Of course, the other reason to love spring is the spring flowers like violets and daffodils, both of which used to be sold as fundraisers for our Canterbury Westland Kindergarten Association.
For over 50 years, women with bouquets of yellow daffodils and rattling donation boxes were synonymous with kindergarten.
No wonder spring is so special to us.
KIDSFIRST KINDERGARTENS ARE A NOT FOR PROFIT ASSOCIATION THAT HAS DEVELOPED AND MAINTAINED KINDERGARTENS IN CHRISTCHURCH, CANTERBURY AND ON THE WEST COAST FOR OVER 100 YEARS - AS THE PLACE LOCAL KIDS COME TO LEARN, PLAY AND HAVE FUN.
Kidsfirst kindergartens have the most wonderful outdoor environments.
In spring, there's a real flourishing of colour and excitement.
