SOME OF OUR TOP STORIES

Some of our smallest fans gave a mighty performance to show their huge support and respect for the visiting Tonga National Rugby League Team – MATE MA'A TONGA.
At a community event held at Hoon Hay Park, children from Kidsfirst Niu took to the stage to sing and play music, before the MATE MA'A TONGA team members mingled with the crowd to say hello or sign flags and posters.
“We were so thrilled with our performance,” says Meleane Mahina. “Fakamalo (thank you) to all of the parents and teachers for their support in helping our children stand tall and proud to sing for the team and the extended Tongan Community in Canterbury.”
A few days later team captain Sika Manu and player Tevita Pangai Jr took the time to visit Kidsfirst Niu in person! “We were so lucky to be able to personally welcome our hero’s and to say good luck and God bless for the games ahead,” says Meleane.

Kidsfirst Niu had prepared a special gift for the players including flowers and a Tongan dance costume for Sika’s children.
