At Kidsfirst we love celebrating what makes each kindergarten and early learning centre unique. Culture and heritage make up a big part of this. |
OUR TOP STORIES:
| Kidsfirst embraces the opportunity to celebrate the cultural diversity of our communities.
Kidsfirst Shirley had a cultural evening and invited families to come along to share knowledge and stories about their country of origin.
This included sharing not only New Zealand’s Maōri and Pakeha heritage but also learning about Tonga, Samoa, Denmark, France, Uzbekistan, Hungary, Korea, China, Scotland, South Africa, Russia and the Philippines.
"To bring everyone together, we organised a family night to celebrate our uniqueness and encourage a sense of whanaungatanga," says Head Teacher Janette Bowen. Families brought along their favourite dish to eat so there was a great variety of foods to try, and a clown entertained the children afterwards.
What a great coming together of people and cultures.
