September 1st is not only the first official day of spring but (since 2005) New Zealand's Random Act of Kindness Day!

Kindness flourished at Kidsfirst Nuffield kindergarten with each of our whānau receiving a pack of sunflowers seeds from Wellness New Brighton, to celebrate the day.

Tamariki baked muffins to pop in the New Brighton community fridge, as well as a loaf for their nice neighbour (who often donates bits and pieces of wood for the kindergarten carpentry table).

It was all “to encourage our tamariki to give back and show kindness,” says Teacher, Rachel Ryan.
