At Kidsfirst Kindergartens, there are so many fantastic places to explore, to run, jump, hide and really have fun. But it's not by accident, but careful design.
SOME OF OUR STORIES
Part of our commitment to the development of every child as they attend a Kidsfirst Kindergarten is having a bright, varied and exciting play area outside. To be able to respect and celebrate the outdoors, you have to live in it!
When you visit or attend a Kidsfirst Kindergarten, you will find all manner of different outdoor equipment: bars, ropes, tyre or barrel swings, slides, climbing frames, tunnels, swing bridges, rock climbing walls, and soft bark and playing mats to jump down.
Scattered around outside may be water troughs, trampolines, tricycles, basketball hoops, seesaws, chalk, or moon hoppers.
There could be a treehouse to play in, flax bushes to hide behind, a whare that tells the kindergarten’s history, a bike track to race around, or a wide-open deck with picnic benches to eat lunch in the sunshine.
There are always pavements to draw on, grass to roll around on, native trees to climb or a garden to water (which may even have some vegetables to harvest)!
And we can’t forget the sandpits – filled to the brim with diggers and spades!
To learn about the outdoors, the only way is to get out there and experience it!
Open spaces with room to run, places to explore and trees to climb has always been crucial to the 'kindy years'.
