| Congratulations to Kidsfirst Early Learning Centre Diamond Harbour, the Passionate Award winner, recognised in the 2016 At Our Heart Awards, presented at the AGM in May.
Our values are very important to us as an association and we're so proud to be able to celebrate them in this way.
Being Passionate about what you do shows in the way you go about things. It's something that's evident in Kidsfirst Kindergartens in all our communities. We care about doing what we do well.
It’s a value that’s embedded and embraced by the Kidsfirst Diamond Harbour team. Working in a diverse, mixed-age setting – with children as young as three months old, up to school age – this relatively new teaching team have built sound teaching and learning practice which includes and values everyone.
Areas they’re particularly passionate about are education for sustainability and cultivating reciprocal relationships around the community. Their relationship with the neighbouring school sees them sharing learning spaces and resources, and the teachers team up to work together on research projects and professional development.
Education Services Manager, Nicki Chapman says, “One thing that stood out was the way teachers here explore and learn alongside the children. Everyday they provide exciting hands-on opportunities for exploration – including getting outside for walks and excursions. They put their whole heart into their teaching and learning, and that’s great to see.”
They are highly respected in the local community and are regarded as leaders in many areas of education, having many guests through the centre and brimming with pride. They show their beliefs in the Kidsfirst values on a daily basis and their passionate curiosity makes such a difference to the development of children at their kindergarten.
Although we celebrate these values each year with awards and certificates, we know that people see the behaviours and commitment associated with our values every day, in so many different ways in our wonderful kindergartens. So congratulations and keep doing what you're doing so well.
