When your child comes to a Kidsfirst Kindergarten, there's so much for them to see and do, so much to learn and so many wonderful opportunities. Here are just a few examples of what we've been up to recently. Our kindys are where local children come to learn, play and have fun.

LEARNING CAN GO

HAND IN HAND WITH ADVENTURE...

We are always looking for ways that whānau can play a role at kindergarten. Kidsfirst MacFarlane Park's excursion to Arthur's Pass was a great example of how everyone got involved and had a great time together.

History and heritage can be explained and explored at so many different levels. Here is one way our kindergartens often honour our roots, and gather whānau together to celebrate this.

Many kindergartens are learning about healthy hearts, courtesy of the New Zealand Heart Foundation.

What better way to bring people together than for an ever popular fish and chip evening?

Parents give back to kindergarten in so many ways. One of them is Kidsfirst Chair Carolyne Grant.

The character and feel of each Kidsfirst kindergarten is unique - just ask these children at Kidsfirst Hokitika, decorating an early settlers-style playhut!

Christchurch has been 'Standing Tall' recently, with some exotic looking mammals decorating public spaces all around the city over summer. Our kindergartens decided they wanted to get in on the fun as well.

Because Kidsfirst kindergartens are so entrenched in our local communities, it came as no surprise to us when this teaching team was honoured recently.

Who knows where friendships formed at kindergarten will take your children?

One weekend, a community gathering to build a new sandpit, and a shared lunch - sounds like a great day.

Have you ever heard teachers talking about 'ERO' or 'an upcoming ERO visit' to your child's kindergarten?

Our newest Early Learning Centre, Kidsfirst Diamond Harbour, is now open.

Many of our Kidsfirst family came for a first look at Kidsfirst Diamond Harbour...

Excursions out to the farm every week teaches these kindy kids about a different side of life in New Zealand.

How can you connect with us at Kidsfirst Why, we're glad you asked!

Giving, generosity, and learning about others' needs are the teaching focus for all of our kindergartens, in all different shapes and sizes. At Christmas, Kidsfirst Opawa St Martins decided to turn the attention away from presents, and look to see how they could help others at this special time of the year.

Moving on from kindergarten to school is a very important transition. Read how Kidsfirst prioritises this stage of your child's development.

Throughout our 100 years as a kindergarten association, we've always been changing and evolving to meet the needs of our communities. Playgroups at several Kidsfirst kindergartens are helping that still happen every week, inviting whānau with children younger than three years old to be part of everything Kidsfirst has to offer.

Two parents from Kidsfirst Cotswold Avenue found a real connection through their music, and decided to bring this joy to the children with a concert of their favourite songs.

A great partnership between Kidsfirst Papanui and their local RSA has resulted in a safer kindergarten environment.

How do we include whānau at Kidsfirst Kindergartens? Here are some of the ways it's already happening, but we are always open to new ideas. Talk to your Head Teacher today if you've got a few suggestions.
