 We're proud that our kindergartens have real trees, actual grass to run around on, with room for lots of happy children and butterflies! 

A bountiful garden plot doesn't just yield amazing vegetables, sometimes it grows you a special prize.

 
     
   
 The children at Kidsfirst Mount Pleasant made waffles together as a fun learning activity to take their minds off a predicted cyclone.. Steamed 'puppy' treats were a special delight when Kidsfirst Hawthornden celebrated The Year of the Dog. 
     
   
 While you're unlikely to see a butterfly, some recent rain brought frogs into one of our Central Otago kindergartens. Children at Kidsfirst Hei Hei made red envelopes to welcome in the Chinese New Year along with a fantastic Lion Dance. 
     
  

 

 

 

 Kidsfirst Maniototo mustered up an authentic looking hut for their backyard as a tribute to their farming heritage and as a 'cool place' to hang out. Did you catch some sun this past summer? Tamariki learnt more about Te Rā in fun, creative ways. 
     
   
 “Maui is like a super hero here at Kidsfirst Wales Street,” says Head Teacher, June King. Here's an example of how the children got involved in his story... Children at Kidsfirst Wakatipu role-played camping with pop-up tents in the great big backyard. It was an outdoor adventure without leaving the safety and reassurance of the kindy. 
     
   
 2018 - The Year of the Dog in the Chinese Zodiac. Many of our kindergartens found wonderful ways to celebrate.  

Our culture is so important to us, not just as individuals but as a society, and what better place to learn more than at kindergarten.

 
     

 

 

 

  
 

Seaweek's theme of  Toiora te Moana - Toiora te Tānagata / Healthy seas, healthy people  inspired Kidsfirst Nuffield.

 Our Central Otago kindergartens have a rich past, filled with happy times and lots of parent and community involvement. 

Kidsfirst Belfast welcomed a new whare with a special ceremony, acknowledging its name: Te Whare Tama - the child’s house.
