Vintage Car Day, November 2013

at Kidsfirst McKenzie

The 13th of November, 2013 saw a fleet of vintage cars traverse Christchurch, make their way to every Kidsfirst kindy in the Canterbury region.

The occasion was to acknowledge and celebrate 100 Years of Kidsfirst, and proved to be a huge success. Each car was driven by a passionate Vintage Car Club car owner who volunteered their time and vehicle to help Kidsfirst celebrate the centenary... and each car carried a “special guest” to their destination, someone who the kindy wanted to honour and thank.

The cars really helped children to see what life was like in the 'olden days'. In amongst the excitement of the teachers, the children and their guests, photos were taken, seats were climbed, and, as always, horns were tooted!

It was a great way to remember how far Kidsfirst has come, and to look towards a bright and exciting future together.

The children from Kidsfirst McKenzie enjoyed going out to greet the drivers and looking at the impressive two vintage cars that came to visit. Their special guest was Brian Couch, who is a handyman builder and longtime helper-outer at the kindy.
