Indoors, our kindergarten is open, light and bright. Children can access a range of resources that are carefully and intentionally presented to evoke thinking and exploration.  Learning occurs in all spaces at the child’s pace.   This is an environment supportive of the mana, wairua and mauri our tamariki bring when they come to us. Tamariki are encouraged to be mindful and in awe of the world around them, and respectful of the environment they play and learn in.

Our beautiful, big backyard has lots of room for children to explore and to develop their physical skills, with a variety of moveable equipment that allows children to set their own challenges. A large, grassed area is surrounded by big trees which provide shelter outside in all weather, and we have peaceful, quiet areas for calm and reflection.

The qualified and experienced teaching team at Kidsfirst Kindergartens Mather Rd implement a programme with a special focus on  learning to get along with each other, being able to initiate and maintain relationships with their peers and respond to different challenges that may occur. Play is essential to learning and development in our tamariki, and we believe in uninterrupted time and space to grow and learn – our children and whānau are heard, and time to learn is unhurried. We see knowledge as a process, a discovery and building of understanding.

You're always welcome here! Relationships with parents, family and whānau at Mathers Rd are based on trust, respect, and open communication.  Kanohi ki te kanohi, face to face conversations are valued immensely, as is the language, culture of our families.  Whānau and are included in our early learning journey and are involved at our kindergarten in whatever way suits – through a helpful hand now and then, or by just joining us for a part of our day.

We have strong links with our local primary schools, which supports the transition to school for you and your child, as he/she moves on from Kindergarten.

We would recommend that you enrol initially for at least two full days –building up to five days at your child's pace. This gives us, the teachers time to get to know your child and provides consistency around supporting their learning.

Nau mai, tauti mai - come in any time, we are very proud of our unique learning environment and would love to show you around.  Kidsfirst Kindergartens Mathers Rd is a wonderful place to learn!

From time to time we have special offers, to enable more children to come to our not-for-profit, community kindergarten. But hurry, spaces are limited and these offers only apply for a limited time. Conditions apply.
