Reborn and constantly reinventing itself.

MacFarlane Park Kindergarten opened on the 3rd of August 1957.

However, the most significant moment in its story would come about twenty years later when the kindergarten buildings were destroyed by a fire.

“MacFarlane Park Kindergarten, which was destroyed by fire on 29 December 1979, was replaced on the original site in Acheson Avenue and officially opened on 22 November 1980. We are very grateful to the headmaster, Mr Familton, Quinns Road School, and their committee for the interest shown to the teachers and children of the kindergarten for allowing them the use of an empty classroom.”
Annual Report, 1980.

With a lot of community support, hard work and planning, the kindergarten was rebuilt. Below are photographs of the kindergarten following the fire, in the stages of rebuilding and as it was in 1983.
