Our teachers are adept at turning unexpected events into fantastic learning opportunities for tamariki - such as learning about safety when a lively, lost dog turned up at kindergarten...

SOME OF OUR TOP STORIES

Kidsfirst Pitcairn Crescent found this playful, young dog trying her luck at getting through the gates to join in the fun and games at kindergarten.

"She did seem a bit distressed," says Head Teacher, Bernadette Dawson.

"So we popped the children safely inside for a short time while we secured her at the side of our building in a gated area."

Waiting for the Christchurch City Council Dog Control to arrive, was a good opportunity to talk to children about safety and being calm around an excited dog.

We hope the lost and found notices helped get this precious pup back home where she belonged!
