Tamariki here have freedom to explore, connect with other children and learn through play.   All around you will see children busy at work alongside each other, making choices for play that engage them with the people, the places and the things of our environment and community.

Inside children can explore and engage in play experiences with and alongside each other, choosing from a wide range of resources and equipment:  there are quiet, creative and imaginative play areas.

A calm yet busy environment exists in our beautiful big backyard with grass, barked areas, trees, gardens, and equipment specially designed to support children’s physical growth and development.  Tamariki choose from and learn to use a range of real resources such as saws, hammers, nails, gardening equipment, spades and shovels, learning about managing risk and making safe choices.

Tamariki at Kidsfirst Kindergartens Lincoln  have a voice in the way the programme operates – because they know their thinking is valued, and they belong to a place where play is valued as “real work.

We are an Enviroschool that has achieved “beyond Green/Gold status”, educating children, parents and whānau about the environment and our place and responsibilities within it.  The Enviroschools principles focus on building sustainable communities, empowering children as leaders in our programme, growing and enriching knowledge of Maori perspectives, showing respect for diversity and culture.   We use innovative methods to teach our children about sustainable practices and becoming citizens for positive action.

You're always welcome here! We support and encourage whānau involvement and we welcome visitors to the kindergarten to extend the children’s interests and learning. Time to talk” is a feature of our programme where we invite whānau to come and talk with us and share their aspirations for and about their children’s learning. Families are also invited to meetings with the Friends of Lincoln Kindergarten (FOLK) Group, where we talk about the teaching and learning that happens within the programme.

Our experiences go beyond the Kindergarten gate. We have strong relationships with the local schools, visiting regularly and supporting you and your child when the time comes to transition to school.  And you’ll often see us out and about on regular walks with the tamariki to explore the local environment.

We would recommend that you enrol initially for at least two full days – building up to five days at your child's pace.  This gives our teachers time to get to know your child and gives some consistency around supporting their learning.

Nau mai, tauti mai - come in any time, we’ll show you around and make you welcome!
