Those who play together, stay together.
There’s many a tightknit teaching team within the Kidsfirst network, but the crew from Kidsfirst Papanui took their bond to a whole new level recently – heading away on a tropical island holiday together.
For many years teacher Annette McCord had been singing the praises of her annual retreat to Rarotonga. And for many years her colleagues had said “One day we should all go,” and so three of them did just that.
Head Teacher Margaret Cottrell, Teacher Martina Vergeer and Annette spent six days on the island, eating, sleeping and enjoying the beautiful vistas from boat and shore. Fellow Teacher Claire Bosworth had recently travelled to the UK, otherwise she most certainly would have joined them.
“We’ve got a great team here,” Annette says, “We’re all different but we get on so well. People often comment on the atmosphere we have at the kindy and how wonderful it is. We all think the same way, and have the same priorities. We had an absolute ball going away together."
