Our Education Service Manager, or ESM, is an important member of our teaching team.  Based at Kidsfirst Head Office, she is on site regularly to observe our programme, give us feedback and professional support, and encourage us toward continuous educational improvement. Please feel free to talk with her about your child’s kindergarten/centre experience..

King Street Kindergarten is situated in the picturesque town of Rangiora. While many of the families who attend King Street Kindergarten live in Rangiora, we also have many families from the surrounding rural areas such as Fernside, Swannanoa, Ohoka, Loburn, Ashley and Sefton.

You can read more here about what's been happening in our archive of stories about Kidsfirst Kindergartens, the fun we have, the processes and learning outcomes that result and why we're such a great start for your child.

King Street Kindergarten is a well established kindergarten set in large, park like surroundings. Our physical environment is rich and carefully designed in a way that invites children to explore and learn.

This reflects our passion for beautiful and interesting spaces for both children and adults and demonstrates the value we place on the children’s work. We encourage children to be inquisitive learners who drive their own learning and take an active role in the programme.

Our programme is based on the strands and principles of Te Whariki, the national early childhood curriculum. As teachers, we observe and document children’s emergent interests and dispositions and use these to extend children’s learning. We want families attending to have a strong sense of belonging, as part of a community of learners.

As teachers, we work alongside parents in collaboration with children, as co-learners. Parents contribute their time willingly and are involved and interested in their children’s learning. Teachers and families have a high level of communication and the kindergarten has a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

We believe that through play, children develop thinking processes for making sense of the natural, social, physical and material worlds. Our environment is full of opportunities for meaningful literacy and numeracy experiences. We nurture children’s creativity, through the many and varied art activities on offer.

Children and teachers are actively involved in discovering the enormous potential and learning possibilities around ICT. Our children use digital cameras, laptops, data projector, photocopier and laminator.

We welcome new families to Kidsfirst Kindergartens King Street, and look forward to getting to know you, your child and your family.
