Our Session Times
Your child can come to our kindergarten for up to 6 hours a day, Monday to Friday, during our 4 kindergarten terms.
We can usually be flexible with the sessions you would like your child to attend but some restrictions may apply, so please talk to one of our teachers.
You can read more here about what's been happening in our archive of stories about Kidsfirst Kindergartens, the fun we have, the processes and learning outcomes that result and why we're such a great start for your child.
Our days follow a regular routine, e.g. morning and afternoon mat and kai times. Please ask any of our teachers if you have any questions.
Mat times are an important part of the kindergarten session where we share stories and sing songs. This helps children to develop their concentration skills and learn to express themselves in a large group. You are welcome to sit on the mat to support your child and join in if you would like to.
Please bring a lunch box with fruit and/or a sandwich.
This part of our day is where we encourage children to help put equipment away, wipe tables and generally tidy up. We appreciate any assistance from parents.
Entering and Exiting Kindergarten
For the safety of all children please only let your child in/out of the gate with you.
We accept most recyclables with the exception of toilet rolls, polystyrene trays, soap powder boxes and medicine containers. Natural materials are always in demand e.g. shells or driftwood, so please keep this in mind when you visit the beach.
We currently have a canary called Sonny, a frog called Norman and fish. We have a voluntary roster to take Sonny home for the weekend.
Please check the lost property regularly.
To celebrate your child’s 5th birthday and last day, we have a special farewell. It is a special time for your child and we would hope a parent or someone would be there for them. We sing happy birthday to them and your child makes a crown and a dough cake with candles.
We do not have washing facilities at kindergarten, rather we are assisted by parents who collect the weekly washing each Friday. All children are rostered to take washing/hats home (e.g. twice) while they are at kindergarten.
Kindergarten parking is on the street only. Please do not use the shared driveway unless it is an emergency. When parking, please be aware of neighbouring driveways.
