Please feel free to talk with her about your child’s kindergarten/centre experience..

Our Session Times

Your child can come to our kindergarten for up to 6 hours a day, Monday to Friday, during our 4 kindergarten terms.
These terms echo the terms your child will have when they start school.

You can read more here about what's been happening in our archive of stories about Kidsfirst Kindergartens, the fun we have, the processes and learning outcomes that result and why we're such a great start for your child.

Our Routines

Our days follow a regular routine, with time set aside for a number of activities. Detailed below are examples of the key focus times. For more information about the daily routine and kindergarten policies please ask a staff member.

Mat/Group Time

Mat times are an important part of the kindergarten session where we share stories and sing songs. This helps children to develop their concentration skills and learn to express themselves in a large group.

Kai Time

Teachers sit with children to encourage healthy eating and conversation, and will support children as they select their kai and open containers.

Tidy-Up Time

This part of our day is where we encourage children to help put equipment away, wipe tables and generally tidy up. We always appreciate any assistance from parents - please let us know if you would like to help.

We accept most things except toilet rolls and medicine containers. Natural materials are always in demand e.g. shells or driftwood, so please keep this in mind on your trips to the beach.

We do not have washing facilities at the kindergarten, rather we are assisted by parents who collect the weekly washing each Wednesday and Friday. Families will get a note in their pocket when it is your turn.

Parent Library

We have a collection of books, videos and pamphlets on parenting issues as well as children's growth and development. There are also many other items of interest, which you are welcome to use.

Lost Property

A lost property box is located by the front door.

We celebrate your child's 5th birthday at either the morning group time, or at the end of the day,  with a special birthday dough cake, which s/he helps to make at kindergarten. We would prefer that children do not bring sweets to share but a small gift for the kindergarten is appreciated. See a teacher if you have questions.

Nut Free Zone

Don't forget that our kindergarten is a nut free zone, so please check that all items do not contain any traces of peanuts/nuts. This includes peanut butter and hazelnut chocolate spreads and also nut meusli bars.

What Food To Bring

Children are asked to bring a named lunch box with healthy snacks for their lunch. If children bring a drink bottle please use only water and name it. Please make us aware of any special dietary requirements and allergies. Please provide some fruit for a shared morning tea. We also provide popcorn for morning tea.

Unsuitable food items may be returned to your child to take home at the end of their session.

Children are asked to save sweets, lollies and chocolates for after kindy.
