OUR TOP STORIES:
| At Kidsfirst you'll often find the children lending a hand to tend to the garden. Children love being outdoors, are natural gardeners and learn by doing - with trowel and watering can in hand. Watching plants grow is so satisfying and rewarding for curious children...
At Kidsfirst Bromley, the tamariki have been busy planting and caring for a variety of plants, including a bean plant. Fondly named 'Mr Bean' he comes complete with googly eyes.
The challenge for the children has been to think of ways to care for Mr Bean. First they found a warm sunny spot for the plant to grow, but what else was needed? After much discussion the children decided that Mr Bean would need plenty of water so that he can grow tall, with lots of tasty beans.
“By experimenting and thinking outside the box, our clever children came up with lots of wonderful ways of keeping Mr Bean and his plant friends hydrated,” says Teacher Lisa Fleming.
Check out the photos as the children water their plants with all manner of watering cans made from recycled materials.
