Kidsfirst Kindergartens weren't the only ones to be celebrating a birthday over the '100 Days of Kidsfirst' campaign...
Quite a few kindergartens donned party hats and dress ups to celebrate their special days.
Kidsfirst Belfast left their teenage years behind and celebrated their 20th birthday with a teddy bears' picnic, complete with honey cakes on picnic blankets. Every size and shape of teddy bear was there, including Head Teacher Rosemary Booth's 80 year old teddy bear - sounds more like a family heirloom then a soft toy!
The kids boogied in the park before they went back to cut into the fantastic cake that Sherie, one of the former parents had kindly made for them (complete with fondant icing bears).
Kidsfirst Bush Street made this awesome poster to celebrate turning 35.
Kidsfirst Bromley tied their 35th birthday party in with the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new kowhaiwhai panels on their pergola. Parents and caregivers were invited to join in the fun as well.
Kidsfirst Ngaire Larcombe turned their birthday festivities into a Community Fun Day with Elgregoe the Magician who did a fantastic show for them. Afterwards they kept the party going with a bit of dancing, jumping on the bouncy castle, a sausage sizzle and face painting.
And finally, Kidsfirst Sunbeam joined in the party as well. They are our oldest kindy, and so had a celebration for their 102nd birthday! The children and teachers all dressed up and had great fun together.

And of course, what did every celebration have in common, no matter how old they were turning?

It's so encouraging to see the pride that these kindergartens take in their past and where they have come from. Congratulations to the kindys who took the time to party and celebrate their birthdays - you deserve it!
We love the idea of a cake like this: Kidsfirst celebrated their Silver Jubilee in 1936 and had one layer for every kindergarten in Christchurch! However, 61 layers might be a bit too much to ask...
