SOME OTHER STORIES...
100 days of Kidsfirst Kindergartens
After tragedies and earthquakes and so much disruption, a couple of years later, Kidsfirst Kindergartens tips its hat to a century of kindy in the Canterbury and Westland regions.
Lots has changed since our Association was founded in 1911, but a surprising amount has stayed the same - a commitment to fully trained teachers with a passion for helping young children to learn, the determination and support of families, friends and whanau, the smiles on the faces of the children themselves...
Our celebrations had to take a back seat with everything that came from the devastating series of earthquakes that shook Christchurch and Canterbury at the end of 2010 and beyond. But history and heritage will not (and should not) be denied.
We need to take time to look back as well as looking ahead.
It's about today, yesterday and tomorrow.
Jan Forsyth, Chair of the Kidsfirst Kindergartens Board in 2011, said in that year's Annual Report...
"While it is important to look back at where we came from and where we have been, it is just as important to keep looking forward. To think about the role we will have in the future and how we can best serve the needs of generations to come."
We added pages to our website which you can access HERE.
